This past Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 Glen Rock celebrated its 84th Annual Independence Day Parade. The event topped off a month-long fundraising effort with a special concert by the Glen Rock Pops Orchestra on Borough Hall lawn during a warm Monday evening on July 3rd. Participants of all ages got to hear them perform legendary marches, popular patriotic songs, and favorite light classics led by Music Director Anthony LaGruth. As part of the celebration, winners for this year’s raffle were announced – receiving Visa gift cards and gift baskets donated by the many businesses in town.
The focus of the weekend was the Parade on July 4th. IDA Co-President Michelle Torpey shared, “The turnout for this year’s parade was excellent – it is a very rewarding experience to see residents line the streets to watch and cheer on the participants.” This year’s Grand Marshals were the Quinn Family celebrating 75 years of the Glen Rock Inn. The Inn has been a staple of Glen Rock and has been a generous member of our community.
Various community, music, religious, and veteran groups marched as well as our first responders — the event lasted just over an hour – starting off at the Glen Rock High School and ending by the Glen Rock Municipal Pool on Doremus Avenue. Co-President of the Glen Rock IDA Pat Zengel shared, “It was a wonderful day and we look forward to planning the parade again in 2024 – I’d like to invite interested residents to join us in the effort.” If you would like to learn more or participate in the Glen Rock IDA please visit https://glenrockida.org/.
