After taking a two-year hiatus, the revitalized Glen Rock Chamber of Commerce held it’s first Networking Social of 2017 followed by a brief meeting. The event was hosted by FirstLight at the Galleria in downtown Glen Rock. The turnout was excellent and consisted of old and new Chamber of Commerce members plus some who were “just checking out what it’s all about”. The first two meetings of the Chamber are free and open to all.
GR Chamber of Commerce VP Eileen Maher Hillock welcomed everyone to the event, shared the mission, and led the introductions. She noted “Glen Rock is an awesome town and the revitalized Chamber of Commerce will be an excellent enhancement. The Chamber is here for all of YOU, it has the potential to grow and become whatever you would like it to be. We are open to and welcome your thoughts, ideas abd suggestions.”
Chamber President Julie Maxwell Allen discussed membership benefits and upcoming events, including the popular Fall Festival which is scheduled for Sunday, September 24th. The Chamber has changed vendors for this event; it will now be handled by Cliffhanger Productions. Allen noted the change explaining, “We chose this vendor as they share our vision of enhancing the Festival to be more inclusive of existing town businesses – both brick and mortar and home-based businesses – and also in making the event more family friendly. To that end, this year’s Festival will include live music, street entertainment, rides for kids and a Beer Garden for adults!”.
Chamber Treasurer Pat Kafafian Zengel followed and reviewed the finances noting that introductory Chamber membership was reduced to $50 for the first year.
Tara Gitter, the Community Outreach Director for Congressman Josh Gottheimer, attended and presented the Chamber with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition on the re-established of the Chamber.
“Our business Community in Glen Rock gathered last night at the FirstLight Home Care office downtown Glen Rock. We had a great turnout of business owners from all corners of Glen Rock. Our Businesses’ downtown, Lincoln, Prospect, home and the rest of Glen Rock touch all aspects of our residents’ lives. The well attended gathering of Glen Rock owners last night in the center of town at the corner of Glen & Rock at FirstLight Home Care is the first of our new revitalized networking gathers. We have a revitalized Chamber of Commerce that has the mission to build more lines of communication in service to our residents. Thanks for all that came and joined in this first Networking event and showing our renewed unity. “
Boyd Lowry, Owner of FirstLight Home Care & Member of Chamber of Commerce.
The next Glen Rock Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held at the Glen Rock Library on April 20th 7pm
