During the period between February 27th 2017 and March 5th 2017 members of the GRPD handled 261 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
02-27-2017
9:07 PM – Glen Rock officers were dispatched to the American B.D. warehouse on De Boer drive to investigate a complaint of an individual who was refusing to leave the premises. Officers subsequently field contacted the subject, a 20-year-old Newark man, who was found to have an active criminal warrant out of Bayonne. The man was taken into custody by P.O. Greg Carter and transported to Police HQ where he was later turned over to officers from the Bayonne Police Department.
02-27-2017
9:59 PM – An employee of Starbucks on Rock Road reported that an unknown individual had passed a counterfeit $100 bill at the store. Upon further investigation it was determined that the bill was marked “FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY”. Investigation found that four other jurisdictions have received similar reports recently. The matter has been turned over to the U.S. Secret Service.

7:57 AM – A 63-year-old Delaware man was struck by a vehicle while in the private crosswalk at the entry driveway to the strip mall at 175 Rock Road. Excessive sun glare was determined to be a contributing factor. No independent witnesses were identified during the investigation. The pedestrian was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

2:56 PM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 North, Det. Mike Trover arrested a 36-year-old Port Jervis NY man for possession of 52 glassine bags of heroin. The man was processed at Police HQ where he was charged with possession of heroin and issued a motor vehicle summons for operating a vehicle with an obstructed windshield. The subject was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance before the Superior Court Central Judicial Processing in Hackensack on March 17th 2017.
03-04-2017
12:40 AM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Lincoln Avenue, P.O. Greg Carter arrested a 53-year-old Oakland man on an outstanding criminal warrant out of North Bergen. The man was also found to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe and other narcotics paraphernalia. He was placed under arrest and processed at police HQ for possession of the syringe and paraphernalia and then transported to the Bergen County Jail. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lane, failure to make repairs and failure to provide proof of insurance.

1:37 PM – A Harding Road resident reported a hit and run motor vehicle accident which occurred in the Glen Avenue North Shoppers Lot, behind the mall in the Central Business District. The resident’s parked vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle which fled the scene. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800.
03-04-2017
2:11 PM – P.O. Sam Evans arrested a 21-year-old Glen Rock man on a traffic warrant issued by the Fairfield Township Municipal Court. Bail in the amount of $255 was posted by his mother.

3:29 PM – A Wilson Street resident reported an attempted Craigslist scam. The residents had posted an item for sale at $299. An unidentified buyer sent them two money grams, each for $998. A follow-up text message was sent stating that an error had been made. The residents were asked to deposit both money grams, deduct the $299 and mail the difference back to the buyer. The residents did not deposit the money grams and cease all contact with the alleged buyer. This is a common scam and the matter has been referred to the detective bureau for review.

2:53 PM – Subsequent to stopping a vehicle for tailgating on Prospect Street near Rock Road, P.O. John Tarantino arrested the operator on drug related charges. The driver, a 40-year-old Fair Lawn man, was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with possession of Marijuana under 50 grams and issued traffic summonses for tailgating, improper display of license plates and possession of a controlled dangerous substances in a motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on March 14th, 2017.
