Leaders of the Glen Rock community, including Mayor Bruce Packer, Police Chief Dean Ackermann and Schools Superintendent Paula Valenti, along with Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal and others will be present at a townwide forum on Tuesday, May 16 at the Glen Rock High School Media Center, beginning at 7 p.m.
The forum is a follow up to the Community Message to Parents, distributed to the town late last month to bring to parents’ attention to the state of alcohol and drug use among young people in Glen Rock. The local officials will engage in a discussion of the problem and a question-and-answer session with the public will follow. Borough residents of all ages are invited to attend.
The Community Message was a joint effort of the Mayor and Council, Police Department and Board of Education to try and outline for parents how young people are using alcohol and drugs and what the police, schools and the rest of the community and can and cannot do by law. The main thrust of the message was to let parents know that they need to be aware of what their children are doing and to suggest that parents moderate their behavior.
