7:10 PM – Members of the Glen Rock and Ridgewood Police Departments responded to a reported home invasion in progress on Sycamore Terrace. The 9-1-1 call was terminated and the operator was unable to reestablish contact. Upon securing the scene it was determined that there was no home invasion. A family member had shown up at the house to visit which upset the caller. During the response to this incident one Glen Rock Police Officer suffered minor injuries when he slipped and fell on snow and ice which had accumulated on the resident’s un-shoveled driveway. The matter of the unexpected guest was resolved between family members after it was determined that no criminal act had ever occurred and that police involvement was not warranted.

4:16 PM – A Highwood Avenue resident suspected that an unknown person had been inside her home, but never actually saw the individual. The resident called a family member to check inside the home and there was a delay before police were notified. A check of the area found no signs of forced entry and nothing was found disturbed inside the residence.

4:19 PM – A Godfrey Terrace reported that a credit account had been fraudulently opened in his name. He learned of this when a collection agency contacted him concerning an unpaid balance of $ 3,055.00. The account has since been closed and the Detective Bureau is investigating.

5:44 AM – A Midland Park resident reported that his vehicle was stolen from in front of 242 Rock Road in the Central Business District. This had reportedly taken placed while the man was inside a store making a purchase. Upon officers’ arrival the vehicle was found legally parked in another area of the CBD with minor damage having been done. The matter remains under investigation.

12:52 PM – P.O. Bryan Scott stopped a motor vehicle for failing to yield to a pedestrian at Maple Avenue and Harding Plaza. The driver, a 19-year-old Glen Rock man, was subsequently arrested for possession of Marijuana under 50 Grams. He was processed at Police HQ and released ROR pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on January 24th. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to yield to a pedestrian, operating an uninspected vehicle and possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle.

1:20 PM – A Bradford Street resident reported damage to his lawn sprinkler system. He felt that the damage to a PVC sprinkler line had been done intentionally. P.O. Bob Surdyka was able to confirm that the line appeared to be broken in several places, however, the cause could not be determined. There are no known witnesses.
