During the period between August 29th, 2022, through September 11, 2022, members of the GRPD handled 641 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
08-29-2022
12:20 PM – A Glen Rock resident reported that they are receiving parking summonses and toll violations for a vehicle they formerly leased and returned to the dealer prior to the violations in question. The vehicle currently has license plates belonging to the new owners; however, the violations are being processed under the complainant’s name. The matter was documented, and the complainant was referred to the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission to seek a resolution.

1:51 PM – A White Plains NY Contractor reported that he was hired by a Park Ridge based General Contractor to perform insulation work on a Radburn Road home in Glen Rock in July. Since that time no payment has been received for the work, which totaled $5,450 in labor and materials. The complainant was advised of their options.
08-30-2022
12 PM – A Glen Rock resident reported receiving a notice that a fraudulent credit account was opened in their name at a GAP Store, with merchandise having been delivered to an address in Florida. Upon contacting their credit card provider, the complainant learned that unauthorized charges for healthcare services had also occurred. These charges were canceled. The matter has been referred to the Detective Bureau for review.

5:56 PM – While investigating a motor vehicle accident at Maple Avenue and Rock Road, P.O. Andrew Magro arrested a 30-year-old Waldwick man for Driving Under the Influence. During the course of the investigation, the driver was also found to be in possession of 4 bundles (approximately 40 glassine bags) of suspected heroin. He was subsequently transported to Police HQ where he was processed and charged with DUI, Possession of Heroin, Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. MV Summonses for Careless Driving and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle were also issued. An appearance before Central Judicial Processing at the Superior Court in Hackensack is scheduled for September 16th.

9:11 PM – Patrols were dispatched to a three-vehicle motor vehicle crash at Maple Avenue and Park Avenue. An investigation found that an unlicensed 16-year-old driver, operating a 2020 Jeep, made a turn in front of an oncoming vehicle traveling northbound on Maple Avenue. Both vehicles then collided with a third vehicle which was stopped at the stop sign on Park Avenue at Maple Avenue.
No injuries were reported, and the Glen Rock Fire Department was dispatched to the scene for the related fluid spill. The 16-year-old, a Wyckoff resident, was issued summonses for being an Unlicensed Driver and Careless Driving. An Orangeburg NY resident was issued a summons for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate their vehicle. The teen was released to his mother on scene.

12:49 PM – A Glen Rock resident reported that they were out of state at a bar and began conversing with individuals who asked them suspicious questions. It was the complainant’s perception that these questions were an attempt to compromise their identity, record their voice, and capture photo images. The individual was advised of steps they could take to check their credit reports for unauthorized activity, however, as of this juncture no actual crime was committed.

2:33 PM – Patrols, along with Glen Rock Fire Fighters, were dispatched to a report of a brush fire caused by downed utility wires on the 200 block of Elmwood Avenue. Upon arrival, they found that the fire was out, however, damages were caused to a residence when a delivery truck struck the power lines and pulled them from the structure of the home. The unidentified truck had left the area prior to the response of police and fire personnel. The scene was rendered safe and turned over to PSE&G.

3:27 PM – A Fair Lawn resident reported a discrepancy with a bank deposit made via an ATM at the Bank of America on Rock Road. The complainant alleged that $ 1,000 was not properly credited to their account, however, the bank’s records reportedly do not coincide with this claim. The matter was documented at the request of the complainant. This is strictly a civil matter. As such the Glen Rock Police Department cannot become further involved.
