The Glen Rock High School Wrestling team wrapped up its dual season on Friday with a 65-6 victory over NJIC rival Manchester at the GRHS gym, stopping a two-match losing streak and giving the team a final record of 16-10 – a 10-win improvement over last season’s 6-20 dual mark.
Four Glen Rock wrestlers – sophomore Ben Or-Chen (106 pounds), juniors Matt Fellini (120), Matt Sapoff (145) and Kyle Fisher (152) all registered pins against Manchester, and senior captain Kevin Pinzoni (132) won by technical fall. The victory ended a two-match losing streak for Glen Rock, which had lost its state sectional playoff matchup against Emerson/Park Ridge on Monday and then lost, 52-15, in a regular season contest against Pascack Valley on Wednesday. That match saw only four winners for Glen Rock – Or-Chen, Fisher and junior Jacob Slump (285) by decision, and junior Michael Quinn (220) by injury default.
The team’s individual wrestlers will compete this Saturday in the District 4 tournament, which will be held at River Dell High School, beginning at 10 a.m.
