04-25-2023
12:12 AM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 South P.O. Sarah Orsita determined that the driver, a 25-year-old Hackensack man, was wanted by the Hackensack Police Department on a contempt warrant for failing to appear in court. He was transported to Glen Rock Police HQ where he was turned over to the custody of the Hackensack Police Department.

5:25 PM – A Glen Rock woman reported that a scammer had attempted to defraud her of $ 2,000 through a gift card scam. She consulted with her son who recognized this as a potential fraud and notified the police. Due to the intervention of her son, no loss occurred.

11:14 PM – A Glen Rock resident reported that a fraudulent credit card account opened in their name was used to make a $500 purchase at a Home Depot in Jamaica, Queens, NY. The issuing bank had flagged the transaction as suspicious and notified the complainant. The account has been closed and the complainant locked their credit pending a search for any other fraudulent activity.

12:21 PM – Patrols, along with EMS personnel, were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue in response to a report of a male subject with an amputated toe after having a tree fall on him. The responding officers found a Glen Rock man who had been cutting down a small tree in his backyard when the trunk fell onto his foot, amputating his big toe on his left foot. His shoe became lodged under the tree. The victim was able to pull his foot out of his shoe prior to the officers’ arrival. Sgt. Scott McGovern provided first aid treatment while Lt. Frank Riggio and Sgt. Mike Trover pried the tree off the ground to free his shoe containing the toe. The toe was placed in a bag of ice and the victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.

11:22 AM – A Glen Rock resident reported that their bank had detected a $ 4,950 attempted fraudulent transaction on their account which occurred in Tampa Florida. The bank did not let the transaction go through and the complainant suffered no financial loss. The resident has locked their credit pending a search for any other fraudulent activity.

11:38 AM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Harristown Road P.O. Andrew Magro determined that the driver, a 47-year-old Paterson man, was wanted by the Wayne Police Department on a contempt warrant for failing to appear in court. The man was transported to Glen Rock Police HQ where he posted 10% of $750 bail and was released pending an appearance in Wayne Township Municipal Court.
