About Banana Tree News Today

Banana Tree News Today is a daily U.S. weather briefing written in plain language. Every day we follow the national forecast — the rain and snow, the storms, and the big swings in temperature — and tell you what it actually means for your day, your drive, and your weekend.

Most forecasts are written for other forecasters. Ours aren’t. We skip the jargon (and when we can’t, we explain it — see Weather Terms, Explained) so that a quick read tells you whether to grab an umbrella, leave early, or change your plans.

What we cover

Day-to-day forecasts for regions across the country: soaking rain and flooding, winter storms and snow totals, severe weather and tornado risk, cold fronts and heat, and the holidays and travel days when the weather matters most.

Who writes it

The briefing is written by Kai Hovell, who reads the models so you don’t have to. We base our outlook on official data from the National Weather Service and NOAA and translate it into something you can use in ten seconds.

One important note: our briefings are interpretive, not official warnings. For watches and warnings where you live, always rely on the National Weather Service. See our Weather Disclaimer.
