During the period between February 12, 2024, through February 18, 2024, members of the GRPD\u00a0handled 269 calls for service, the highlights of which included:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

02-12-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2:43 PM \u2013 A resident on the 400 block of Boulevard reported that sometime between the evening of February 9 and the morning of February 10, California license plates may have been taken from the trunk of an unlocked vehicle parked in their driveway. The vehicle in question belongs to a family member who has been out of the country for an extended period. The license plates were recovered by the Hawthorne Police Department while investigating vehicles being entered in their jurisdiction. The Hawthorne Police Department is currently investigating the matter.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

02-13-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11:45 AM \u2013 The owner of a Broad Street business reported possible check fraud committed by a former employee. According to the business owner, while conducting a year-end audit of business records, it was found that 8 previously cashed paychecks had been redeposited. The total amount of the suspected fraud amounted to $6,232.15. The business owner contacted Chase Bank who reimbursed the business as the checks should not have been accepted a second time. The bank required the filing of a police report and is conducting their own internal investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

02-13-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5:09 PM \u2013 Glen Rock Detectives arrested Michael J. Colon, age 18 of Paterson<\/strong> for one count of Receiving Stolen Property N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7A.  The charges were filed by D\/Sgt. James Calaski following a two-month investigation into a Glen Rock resident\u2019s report of stolen credit card information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation began on December 5, 2023, when a Glen Rock resident reported that they were contacted by Citibank concerning a potential fraudulent transaction on their Mastercard, which had been declined.\u00a0 During a review of the account, two additional transactions were identified. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

02-15-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

9:38 AM \u2013 The Director of Security for the Glen Rock Public Schools reported that a student discovered a swastika had been drawn on the inside of a lab table drawer in a high school science room. The student promptly reported the matter to a teacher who notified the administration. A further inspection found that the swastika was among other graffiti drawn throughout the bottom of the drawer.  The table is utilized by numerous students, and it is unknown exactly when the graffiti was drawn. The matter has been reviewed by the Detective Bureau as well as the Bergen County Prosecutor\u2019s Office and is classified as a bias incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

02-16-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

9:33 AM \u2013 Patrols and EMS were dispatched to the Glen Rock Dog Park on Doremus Avenue in response to a 9-1-1 report of a person bitten by a dog. Upon arrival it was found that a Wyckoff woman, who was with her dog at the dog park, was bitten by a pit bull mix belonging to a Prospect Park woman.  The responding officers and EMTs provided first aid and the victim was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

02-18-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12:21 AM \u2013 Patrols were dispatched to a fare dispute involving a Lyft driver in the Rock Road Central Business District.   The driver recounted that he picked up five individuals at Penn Station in New York and was contracted to drive three female passengers to Hoboken and the remaining two male passengers to Glen Rock.  The male passenger canceled the Lyft ride payment after getting into the vehicle stating to the driver that there was an issue with his credit card.  The subject instead offered to pay $150 in cash, which was agreed to.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the female passengers were dropped off on Washington Avenue in Hoboken the driver proceeded to Glen Rock where the male passengers asked him to stop at the Bank of America on Rock Road to get cash.\u00a0 Both male passengers left the vehicle, covering their faces with clothing and ran off on Rock Road towards Glen Avenue. The subjects were described as white males, approximately 26 to 28 years of age.\u00a0 One was described as tall and slender wearing a sports jersey and the other as a heavy set wearing a blue jacket.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the subjects.  The matter has been referred to the Detective Bureau. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
