10-18-2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2:51 PM \u2013 A Glen Rock resident reported that they had been the victim of an attempted online dating scam where an unknown individual had attempted to extort money from them.  The complainant did not pay the actor, nor did they provide them with any personal information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10-19-2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3:34 PM \u2013 A Glen Rock resident reported that they had been the victim of an online dating scam where an unknown individual had extorted $ 3,500 from them via Western Union wire transfers.\u00a0 An investigation determined that the funds were wired to the Dominican Republic and had already been claimed.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), financial losses due to online dating scams hit a record $547 million in 2021. Online dating imposters are criminals who use dating sites, apps, or social media to trick or extort you into giving them money or sensitive information such as your account passwords or Social Security number.  Most often these criminals are in foreign countries, and it is impossible for a victim to recover their losses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10-20-2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12:03 PM \u2013 A Glen Rock resident reported that they were contacted by a collection agency seeking to recover unpaid rent for an apartment in Georgia.\u00a0 The resident had never resided in Georgia and had previously been the victim of identity theft.\u00a0 The matter has been referred to the Detective Bureau for review.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10-20-2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5:56 PM \u2013 A Glen Rock-based construction company reported that an unknown individual had ordered $2,500 worth of stun guns in their company name and had them shipped to an address in Bayonne.\u00a0 They learned of the purchase upon receiving a verification notification from the Nebraska-based supplier of the stun guns.\u00a0 At the time of the report, the Glen Rock company had no financial loss.\u00a0 The Detective Bureau is currently reviewing the matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10-21-2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11:20 PM \u2013 A hit-and-run driver, who had fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident was apprehended by Glen Rock officers at the NJ Transit Main Line Station.\u00a0 The subject, a 24-year-old Oakland man, was detained and turned over to the custody of the Oakland Police Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10-21-2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11:20 PM \u2013 A passerby reported observing lawn damage while walking past the corner home at southwest Doremus Avenue and Rock Road, next to \u201cThe Rock\u201d.  The responding officer observed damage consistent with a vehicle driving across the lawn causing damage to both the lawn and bushes.  The officer was able to contact the property owner, however, it is unknown as to when the damage occurred.  Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
