During the period between August 12, 2024, through August 18, 2024, members of the GRPD handled 347 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
08-12-2024
10:05 AM – A Glen Rock resident reported being notified that a Synchrony American Eagle credit account had been fraudulently opened in their name. Person(s) unknown had used the complainant’s date of birth, Social Security number, and maiden name to open the account which had $750 charged to it. The bank was immediately notified, and the account was closed. The matter was referred to the Detective Bureau for review.

10:22 PM – Patrols were dispatched to a concerned citizen’s report about a male subject, who appeared to be unconscious, who was lying next to a tree at the side of the road on Doremus Avenue, near Faber Field. Officers aided the subject, a 37-year-old Hawthorne man, who was found to be in a highly intoxicated state and unable to care for himself. Officers were able to contact a friend of the subject who responded to the scene and agreed to provide care for him. The subject was safely assisted into his friend’s vehicle. No further assistance was requested.

12:04 AM – Patrols and EMS were dispatched to a concerned citizen’s report of an unconscious male subject laying on the side of the road on the 500 block of Doremus Avenue. Officers located a 37-year-old Hawthorne man who was in a highly intoxicated state. This was the same subject who had been assisted on the evening of August 13th. The man was examined on scene by EMTs and declined medical assistance. Officers spent an extended period attempting to determine where the subject lived, with the assistance of officers from the Hawthorne Police Department. Subsequently he was transported to his home and left in the care of family members.

2:29 PM – A representative of a management company, on behalf of a non-profit professional association headquartered in Glen Rock, reported discrepancies discovered during an audit of the association’s 2023 finances. According to the complainant, $ 6,741.21 was transferred via a mobile transaction to a checking account which their auditors are unable to identify beyond learning that it is a personal checking account. A fraud notification was filed with the bank in question and the matter has been referred to the Detective Bureau for review.
08-16-2024
8:05 PM – Patrols were dispatched to the area of the NJT Main Line Train Station to investigate a commuter’s report of a man laying on the side of the railroad tracks. Upon arrival patrols located a 41-year-old Fair Lawn man who was in an intoxicated state. The subject related that he had fallen asleep on the train and got off at the wrong stop. The man refused medical aid, and a sober adult friend responded to pick up the subject and agreed to transport him home.
08-17-2024
1:21 PM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop along Harristown Road, P.O. Bob Surdyka determined that the driver had an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Monmouth County Superior Court. The Driver, Michael A. Cacace, age 43, of Glen Rock was taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the custody of Officers from the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department.
He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle. His vehicle was impounded.
