During the period between January 15, 2024, through January 28, 2024, members of the GRPD handled 474 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
01-17-2024
1:59 PM – A Glen Rock resident reported discovering fraudulent airline charges to their Barclays Bank credit card. These charges, totaling $ 1,207.40 were for airline tickets and checked bag fees with United Airlines and JetBlue. The complainant learned of these charges when they began receiving flight notifications for trips.
The credit account has since been closed, Barclays Bank has transferred the matter to their fraud department, and the Detective Bureau has opened an investigation.

1:23 PM – An employee at Excel Physical Therapy on the 500 block of Broad Street reported discovering that the door locking system to the business had been damaged. There were no signs that entry had been gained to the business. No other damage was found.

9:42 AM – The owner of a 2015 grey Toyota Sienna reported that their vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle while parked in the lot of the Prospect Street strip mall on the 800 block of Prospect Street alongside the Dunkin Donuts store. Anyone who may have witnessed this hit and run collision and who can identify the vehicle involved, is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800.

11:39 AM – Patrols were dispatched to a home under construction on Brookfield Avenue on a reported dispute. Upon arrival they found that a Clifton based plumbing contractor and the homeowner were involved in a dispute over the cost related to a service call and repairs. The homeowner felt they were being overcharged, told the plumber to stop work and paid only the price which was originally quoted. The plumber stated that the work was more extensive than initially anticipated and became angry when the homeowner would not pay the additional charge.
Both were advised that this is a civil matter, and they would have to seek redress through the civil process at the Superior Court in Hackensack. The plumber departed without further incident.

As a result of a series of ongoing investigations into incidents of shoplifting at Bottle King Liquors on Prospect Street, Det. Lucas Doney arrested Ronneshia Mc Donald, age 32, of Menands New York for one count of shoplifting (4th degree) of $ 300 worth of alcohol from Bottle King Liquors on May 9th, 2023. Ms. Mc Donald was identified with the assistance of Detectives from the Colonie NY and Guiderland NY Police Departments based upon video surveillance images from Bottle King. She surrendered herself at Glen Rock Police HQ and was processed and released on her own recognizance, pending an appearance before Central Judicial Processing at the Superior Court in Hackensack.

Det. Doney issued a warrant for the arrest of Alexis Smith, age 24, of Newburgh NY charging one count of conspiracy to commit shoplifting (3rd degree) for her involvement during an August 7, 2023, shoplifting incident that occurred at Bottle King. In total 5 individuals, part of an organized retail theft group, took part in this shoplifting incident, taking 12 bottles of tequila valued at $753.83. This is the fourth person positively identified in this incident. To date three other actors have been arrested.
These charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
