Explosision in the right-of -way causes brush fire
An early Saturday afternoon brush fire along the PSE&G right-of-way near Prospect Street in Glen Rock was quickly contained and extinguished by Glen Rock police officers and firefighters.
A nearby homeowner using a garden hose also assisted in fighting the blaze, which generated a large amount of smoke, but caused very little damage. Neighbors reported hearing at least one (1) explosion just prior to noticing smoke coming from the area. Some neighbors also experienced flickering lights and mini power outages.
No PSE&G electric transmission equipment appeared to have been damaged in the conflagration, nor were there any injuries reported. Ridgewood firefighters assisted their Glen Rock counterparts in ensuring the area was completely free of “hot spots.”
