1:56 PM – A Glen Rock woman reported receiving a letter denying an unemployment claim which she did not file. Upon closer inspection she found that the letter was addressed to another individual but using her address. A fraudulent claim notice was filed with the state.
10:06 AM – A Glen Rock man reported that he had contracted with a pool service in July to cover his pool at the end of the summer. At that time, he provided a $ 1,700 down payment and the check was cashed the same day. When the work was not done at the end of the season, contact was made with the pool company and it was agreed that the deposit would be returned. As of the date of this report no such refund was made, and the pool service has not responded to inquiries. The complainant was advised of the procedures to sign a complaint with the Glen Rock Municipal Court.
3 AM – An Ellsworth Terrace resident was alerted to activity in their driveway by their Ring security camera system at 2:51 AM. As the resident observed a male subject in the driveway near their vehicle, the subject then left the camera’s view. The actor left the area prior to police being notified. The resident’s vehicle was not entered, and a search of the area found no one.
8:15 PM – A Glen Rock woman reported that a fraudulent unemployment claim had been filed in her name. The detective bureau continues to receive ongoing complaints of this nature and is working with the NJ Division of Criminal Justice which is the lead investigating agency on fraudulent unemployment claims being filed throughout the state.
1:27 AM – Patrols, along with Glen Rock Fire Fighters, responded to a leaf fire on the 200 block of Glen Avenue. The fire was promptly extinguished without incident. Video from a nearby home detected two individuals in the area who appeared to have started the fire. Detectives are currently attempting to view the video for further evidence.
