10:19 AM – A Glen Rock man reported discovering that a fraudulent insurance account had been opened in his wife’s name. The couple learned of this account when they received a payment delinquency notice. The Allstate office in Glen Rock was able to assist in providing a copy of the insurance binder in question as well as an audio recording of the transaction with the insurance company’s call center. Preliminary information is that the transaction occurred in Georgia. The detective bureau is currently reviewing the matter.

8:50 PM – Patrols were dispatched to the Glen Rock Athletic Club on a request for assistance from the staff regarding two intoxicated males having a dispute which was becoming violent. Upon arrival, officers found that both subjects, a 54-year-old Glen Rock man and a 56-year-old Ridgewood man, had become involved in a heated dispute over cheese balls. Both had been separated by staff and patrons prior to police arrival and no actual assault was reported. Both men were escorted from the premises by officers and advised not to return for the evening. They were advised of their right to sign complaints against each other with the Glen Rock Municipal Court if they so desired.

12:55 AM – While on patrol P.O. Sam Evans came upon a wrecked vehicle in the left lane on Route 208 North near Harristown Road. The driver, who was outside of the vehicle, explained that a vehicle in front of him had abruptly stopped in the travel portion of the roadway. He was unable to stop in time and collided with the vehicle. The vehicle then fled the scene after being struck. While the officer was ensuring that the driver was not injured, a 9-1-1 call was received from a witness who was following the vehicle and was able to take a picture of the license plate. Based on the information provided by the witness, Glen Rock and Hawthorne officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle on Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne. There were no reported injuries.
The driver of the hit and run vehicle, a 35-year-old Hawthorne woman, told officers that she had parked on the highway as she believed she was in her driveway. She was subsequently arrested by P.O. Sam Evans for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to police HQ where she was processed and released to a sober adult in accordance with John’s Law. She was also issued summonses for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, impeding traffic, reckless driving, careless driving, operation of an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

9:09 AM – A Belmont Road resident reported that a light fixture was removed from their front lawn at an unknown time. The fixture was subsequently recovered on a neighbor’s lawn. There were no witnesses, nor any evidence recovered. The resident is unsure when the damage occurred. Anyone who may have witnessed anything and can provide a description of the actor(s) is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800.
