6:39 PM – A Glen Rock woman contacted police when she became suspicious over a Craigslist transaction she was attempting to complete. She had agreed to sell furniture to an individual who contacted her via text message and would only identify himself by his first name. The buyer agreed to a price and stated that he would send additional funds to cover the fee of a moving company to pick up the furniture. He claimed that the mover would only accept cash and that she would need to cash the check and pay the mover. The buyer then refused to state what the moving fee would be. The woman was advised that this was most likely a scam and not to cash the check or have further contact with the buyer.

7:30 PM – A Glen Rock woman reported that her Verizon iPhone had been hacked and her number transferred to a provider called “Tracfone”. During the same period of time, a joint Bank of America account she holds with her daughter was compromised. Both Verizon and the Bank of America are working with the victim to resolve both matters. It was later learned that the victim’s Capital One checking account had also been compromised. It appears that all of the transactions had been accomplished via the victim’s hacked iPhone. The Detective Bureau is currently reviewing the matter.

1:09 PM – A Hillman Avenue resident reported a missing package containing a computer valued at $675.82. According to the shipper, FedEx, the package had been delivered to their home the previous day. The resident disputes this claim as they were expecting the package, and someone had been at the residence the entire day and no delivery had occurred. The complainant is currently following up with both the shipper as well as the company the purchase was made from.

9:59 PM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop along Lincoln Avenue, P.O. T.J. Graziani detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The officer also noted that the vehicle’s airbag had been deployed and was dangling from the steering wheel making operation of the vehicle unsafe. Upon further investigation the driver, a 24-year-old Paterson man, along with his passengers: A 20-year-old Totowa woman and a 20-year-old Paterson woman were all arrested for possession of Marijuana under 50 grams.
All three were processed at Police Headquarters and released on their own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court. The driver was issued traffic summonses for operation of an unsafe vehicle, failure to have a valid inspection sticker, operating a vehicle with an obstructed windshield and failure to maintain lights.

10:26 AM – A Kenmore Place resident reported that an Amazon package she received had been cut open and the contents, valued at $70.94, had been removed. Amazon customer service had provided her with a photo of the delivered package which had been placed at her front door at 8:52 AM, however, it could not be determined if the package had been opened before or after delivery. She had taken the package in at about 10 AM and no suspicious activity was reported in the area of her home. The Detective Bureau is currently reviewing the matter.
