On Tuesday evening, Hawthorne PD received a 911 telephone call just before 8:30 PM reporting the hit & run of a pedestrian in front of SuperFresh, 937 Lincoln Avenue, Glen Rock. The fleeing vehicle was described as a dark colored SUV with heavy front end damage, which was seen driving north from the crash site on Lincoln Avenue. Based on debris found at the scene, responding patrol officers determined that the vehicle was a General Motors product.
Within minutes after the incident, Midland Park PD spotted a vehicle matching that description (a late model Chevy Tahoe with heavy front end damage) in the parking lot of Burger King, on Godwin Avenue, Midland Park.
The adult female driver of that vehicle was subsequently taken into custody by Glen Rock PD. The accident victim was transported by a Glen Rock EMS ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson with unspecified injuries.
Advanced Life Support was provided by a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital. Hawthorne PD assisted Glen Rock PD at scene. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Team was called, along with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification Unit.
Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann was at scene. Lincoln Avenue was closed between Diamond Bridge Avenue, Hawthorne and Boulevard, Glen Rock for a accident investigation. Wyckoff PD and Ridgewood PD assisted Midland Park PD at the Burger King.
