Between 8 AM and 1 PM –  The Glen Rock Police Department, in conjunction with the NJ State Motor Vehicle Commission, held a vehicle inspection checkpoint along Maple Avenue at Harding Plaza.  The operation, held several times a year, is designed to remove dangerous vehicles from the road and promote safe driving practices.  The checkpoint also had the added benefit of allowing 45 motorists, whose vehicles were due for inspection, to have their vehicles inspected free of charge with only a short wait.  A total of 63 summonses were issued to vehicles found with safety violations.  One individual was found to have a $74.00 warrant out of Hoboken.  Bail on the warrant was paid to the Glen Rock Municipal Court.

12:35 PM –  A De Boer Drive business, Opici Family Distributing, reported a suspicious incident involving their business checks.  They stated that they received calls from three different individuals who received company checks from Opici which they were not expecting.  The three checks totaled $7,450 and were not issued by Opici.  The information was passed on to the detective bureau for follow up.

4:35 PM –  A Franklin Place resident responded to headquarters to report identity theft.  The resident stated that she was notified by a credit monitoring service that she had Best Buy and Home Depot credit cards opened in her name.  She stated that she then received a Best Buy credit card in the mail that she never requested.  She canceled the fraudulent card and the information was passed on to the detective bureau for further investigation.

2:11 AM – Pursuant to a motor vehicle stop, P.O. Tarantino arrested a 53-year-old Mahwah woman for driving while intoxicated.  She was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued several motor vehicle summonses with a court date in the Glen Rock Municipal Court.  She was released to the custody of a friend.

11:53 AM – A representative of the Glen Rock Jewish Center responded to headquarters to report a suspicious incident.  They stated that approximately one hour earlier, an unknown middle eastern male driving a blue van came to the Jewish Center looking to speak to the Rabbi. The male stated that he wanted to learn to speak Hebrew.  The male was advised to call and make an appointment with the Rabbi and he then left the property.  The incident was found to be suspicious by the reporting party and all the information was turned over to the detective bureau for further investigation.  If anyone has any further information on the suspicious party, please contact Det. 11-25-2018

2:51 PM – A Bradford Street resident reported that two checks she had mailed were stolen and fraudulently cashed by an unknown party.  She stated that she mailed the two checks at the mail box directly in front of the Glen Rock Post Office on Saturday, November 10th at approximately 6:00PM.  She notified her bank of the fraudulent activity and the Glen Rock Post Office was advised of the incident.  The detective bureau was notified and turned the matter over to the US Postal Inspectors as part of their ongoing investigation into the theft of US mail.
