759
1. Why are you running for the BOE?

I am running for the Glen Rock Board of Education because I believe in the importance of quality public education.

2. Why do you think you are a good fit for the BOE?
First, I continuously anticipate future institutional needs and opportunities, developing solutions that work.
Second, I regularly review, revise, and produce complex budgets.
Third, I invest time and effort in consensus building necessary to focus priorities and ensure strong support for new initiatives.

3. What do you think are some of the top issues you would like to see accomplished in your first term for the school district? and why are they important?
School Safety, Development of Programs, and Communication between school and the district. I have outlined this on my website.

4. Please tell us something unique about you.

I grew up in a small town in upstate NY. My parents dropped me off at college in NYC, September 1983 and I never looked back. I enjoy the excitement and challenges I face everyday.

5. Are there any changes you would like to see the school district look at? and why?

The Board should work to formally establish policies that support fundraising, grant applications, and sponsorships. We should hire a contract grant writer. Our Borough Council recently spent $30,000 for a grant writer whose work yielded ten times that amount.

6. what are your thoughts on the Referendum and the projects that are named in it?

I agree with A/C in the elementary schools. We just need to re-evaluate how to proceed. Maybe central air is not the solution. There are other solutions, including reflective shades on the classrooms, fan coil units, DOES (Dedicated Outdoor Air System), as well as wall units. The auditorium should be fixed. This is a safety hazard, and should not be ignored. Fixing the field at Hamilton also should be addressed. However, we should look at sponsorships on our fields to defer some of the costs.
