 Glen Rock Police Blotter August 20th – 26th, 2018



2:14 PM – A Glen Rock woman reported receiving an unsolicited call from a purported technical services company informing her that her computer had a virus.  The caller offered to remove the virus if the woman gave them access to her computer and bank account so that they could collect $500 for their services.  When the woman realized she was the victim of a scam she notified her bank and her account numbers were changed.  At the time of the report no financial loss had occurred.  


9:55 PM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Maple Avenue, Sgt. Mike Trover arrested a 68-year-old Elmwood Park man on an active warrant issued by the Garfield Municipal Court.  Unable to post $ 1,000 bail the man was turned over to the custody of the Garfield Police Department.  The man was also issued traffic summonses for driving with a suspended license, driving without a driver’s license, and improper maintenance of lamps.          


6:41 PM –  A Glen Rock woman reported that she was contacted by TD Bank when an unknown male had attempted to obtain a replacement ATM card on a joint account she holds with her son.  The man in question had a false NJ Driver’s License containing her son’s information.  The woman informed the bank that the subject in question was not her son and the card was not issued.  

Upon checking his credit reports, the son learned that an attempt had been made to open a fraudulent PC Richards account in his name.  The request was declined, and further information is being forwarded.

Both matters are currently under review by the Detective Bureau. 


9:23 AM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Lincoln Avenue, P.O. T.J. Graziani arrested a 31-year-old Garfield woman on active warrants issues by the Garfield and Weehawken Municipal Courts totaling $ 1,114 in bail.  The woman was transported to Glen Rock Police HQ where she posted bail and was released.  The woman was also issued a traffic summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license. 


9:37 PM – During the course of investigating a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Harristown Road and Maple Avenue, P.O. Sarah Orsita arrested a 57-year-old Elmwood Park man for driving while intoxicated.  The collision occurred when the man was driving north bound on Maple Avenue and struck a vehicle which was stopped for the red light at the intersection with Harristown Road.  His passenger, a 29-year-old Union City woman, and the driver of the vehicle he struck, a 23-year-old Little Ferry woman, were both transported to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with non-life-threatening injuries.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene.  

The man, who was not injured, was transported to police HQ where he was processed and released to a sober adult in accordance with John’s Law.  In addition to the DWI charge, the man was also issued traffic summons for reckless driving, careless driving, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, failure to observe traffic control device, following too closely, and unsafe tires.
