Glen Rock Dog park Moves forward with new lease
Submitted by: The Glen Rock Dog Park
The Board of the Glen Rock Dog Park Inc. is pleased to announce another milestone achieved in their 5-year quest to bring a Dog Park to Glen Rock.
On April 25, 2018, the Glen Rock Borough Council introduced several ordinances related to the establishment of the first Borough dog park. The Borough and the 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Glen Rock Dog Park Inc., building the park at no cost to the Borough, also agreed on the terms of a 10-year lease.
The Glen Rock Dog Park is an eco-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, community oriented, ADA accessible, multi-generational canine recreation park dedicated to the 9/11 Search and Rescue Dogs. Girl Scout Gold Award recipient Michelle Hillock initiated the project in 2013.
The approved site, established by a Glen Rock Borough Council resolution on December 9, 2015, is an unused plot of Borough property located at the rear of the recycling center parking lot, at 390 Doremus Avenue between upper and lower Faber fields. The construction of the off-leash park is the sole responsibility of the non-profit organization.
Upon completion, the Glen Rock Dog Park will contribute up to 30 points towards Glen Rock’s sustainable New Jersey municipal certification.
As of January 2018, there were over 1000 dogs registered in the Borough. All dogs entering the park must be licensed and current with vaccinations. Puppies would need to be at least 4 months old to enter.
