Glen Rock News Today is introducing a new column, which will focus on local people and businesses. This edition features a conversation with Ruth Weitzman, a five-star, award-winning, RE/MAX realtor.

Ruth Weitzman has lived in Glen Rock for nearly 50 years and has been a realtor for 41 of those years. Ruth is featured in the March edition of Bergen Magazine, which recently selected her as one of the best realtors in the county. She receives many letters of accolades from clients who praise her thoroughness, professionalism, and putting the customer before her own personal needs.

THE BEGINNING
After Ruth’s children were grown, she went back to work and, at the suggestion of her husband, became a realtor. In fact, her husband and two children all have real estate licenses.

WHY GLEN ROCK
Ruth’s first employer lived in Glen Rock and had recommended the town to her.

FORMULA FOR SUCCESS
“Hard work, honesty, integrity, & fairness are key to a realtor’s success”.

MOST CHALLENGING PARTS OF THE JOB
“Dealing with all types of personalities, the potential complexities of each transaction, and working diligently to make sure buyers get to the closing table”.

MOST FUN ASPECTS OF THE JOB
“Meeting wonderful people from all walks of life, showing beautiful homes in desirable areas, and getting satisfaction in placing families in their dream homes”.

ADVICE FOR FUTURE, POTENTIAL REALTORS
“If you are a people person and are motivated to work hard to find the right house for the right person, this is a great career (editor’s note: it looks so easy on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing”). With hard work, good training, and a supportive company, one can become a successful realtor in today’s market”.

FUN FACT: WHAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT RUTH
Ruth began her career as a dental hygienist. It was this employer who urged her to move to Glen Rock.
