Glen Rock ranks #3 in the state


Glen Rock ranked #3 in the top places to live in the New Jersey Monthly‘s bi-annual ranking of the best places to live in the Garden State. This came out  just in time for school to start on September 5, 2017.

They base their rankings on data that reflects factors such as taxes, home values, school performance, crime and commute time in NJ’s  513 municipalities over a population of 1,500. They compile data from”

  •  NJ Department of Local Government Services (for population gures);
  • NJ Division of Taxation (for property taxes);
  • NJ Division of Taxation/O ce of Property Administration (for home-sales prices);
  • New Jersey Realtors (for time on the market);
  • NJ Division of State Police (Uniform Crime Report);
  • NJ Department of Education (test scores);
  • NJ Hospital Association (hospital locations);
  • NJ Council for the Arts and NJ Theater Alliance (theater locations);
  • searches (restaurant locations); and the
  • U.S. Census/American Com- munity Survey (commute times). The annual-crime and violent-crime rate scores are based on reported crimes per 1,000 residents.

The top 10 are:

  1. Ho-Ho-Kus
  2. Chatham Township
  3. Glen Rock
  4. Rumson
  5. Bernards
  6. Berkeley Heights
  7. Montvale
  8. New Providence
  9. Denville
  10. Chatham Borough
