Faced with questions from the Glen Rock Zoning Board regarding his proposal to build a three-story, eight-unit apartment complex on the corner of Highwood and South Maple avenues, a developer opted to delay his appearance before the zoning board to their next meeting, scheduled for August 10.
The developer, 366 South Maple Ave and Associates, LLC, filed an application with the zoning board on June 23, and at the at the zoning board work session on July 5, requested a use variance and preliminary and final site plan approval of a multi-family residential building with a first floor parking garage. Only residents within 200 feet of the property were made aware of the application. Word eventually got out through social media. ** The zoning board also posts. meeting agendas on the bulletin board at borough hall, glenrocknj.net, and The Record.
Residents in the neighborhood say they are concerned because the bend in Highwood Avenue and in Park Avenue, on the other side of Maple makes visibility tricky and makes the intersection dangerous, at times.
“I am not against the rental unit that is proposed,” resident, Christy Aboyoun, told BTN. “I am concerned solely with the safety of that intersection if the parking situation underneath it is approved. We have a lot of kids around this intersection not to mention the OT (Occupational Therapist) and Speech Therapist who caters to kids on the opposite corner.”
