The Glen Rock Boys Lacrosse team will host a second-round state playoff game Saturday at 3 p.m. against Lenape Valley at the Glen Rock High School Stadium field. The Panthers, who are seeded No. 2 in the North Jersey Group 1 tournament, advanced to the second round following a 14-1 victory over No. 15 Cedar Grove on Wednesday. Lenape Valley, the No. 10 seed, advanced by defeating No. 7 Park Ridge, 8-3.
The Panthers (9-8) are led on offense by a pair of sophomores, Justin Douenias and Owen Corry, who are at the top of a balanced attack that has produced 171 goals in 17 games. Douenias, who recently scored his 100th career point, leads in total scoring, with 34 goals and 31 assists, for 65 points. Corry leads the team in goals, with 37, and has 25 assists, for 62 points. They are supported by juniors Thomas Consoli (26 goals), Sean Egan (22 goals, 10 assists, 32 points) and Liam Horton (19 goals, 14 assists, 33 points). Senior long stick midfielder/defenseman Robert Ray (10 goals, 90 ground balls) and midfielder/faceoff man Trevor Douenias (133 ground balls) provide solid two-way play and freshman goalie Colin Consoli has a save percentage of .526.
