Michael Pasciuto, who has been vice principal at Glen Rock High School since 2015, is leaving the district to accept a job as a middle school principal in Montville, Glen Rock Board of Education Bryon Torsiello confirmed.
“The district was informed late Friday afternoon by Mr. Pasciuto that he was going to be recommended by the Montville superintendent on Tuesday, 5/16,” Torsiello wrote in an email to Banana Tree News.
The news website TAPinto Montville reported Saturday that the Montville school district announced on Friday that Pasciuto will be appointed principal of Robert R. Lazar Middle School at its May 16 Board of Education meeting.
“I am extremely pleased to confirm that I have recommended to the Board of Education that Michael Pasciuto be appointed to the position of Principal of Robert R. Lazar Middle School at their meeting on May 16,” Montville Schools superintendent Rene Rovtar told the website. Prosciuto will replace the current principal, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Pasciuto came to Glen Rock in July of 2015 after serving as the supervisor of Social Studies in the Cresskill district, where he worked since 2008.
The Glen Rock Board of Education will now have to search for a new vice principal for the high school. The board already was searching for a new superintendent of schools after present superintendent Paula Valenti announced her retirement in April. The board is in formal negotiations with former Fair Lawn superintendent Bruce Watson to fill that position on an interim basis. The Glen Rock Board of Education’s next meeting is scheduled for May 22.
Update: This story was updated to add reaction from Board of Education president Bryon Torsiello, who returned an email from Banana Tree News seeking comment on Monday.
