6:24 PM – While on patrol in the area of William Place, P.O. Sarah Orsita ran a random check on the license place of a vehicle observed in the area.  The return indicated that the owner’s driver’s license was suspended and that there was an active warrant for her arrest.  P.O. Orsita, along with P.O. Bob Surdyka, followed the vehicle as it entered onto Route 208 North and conducted a motor vehicle stop at the first location deemed to be safe.  The vehicle was occupied by the registered owner, a 28-year-old Wanaque woman, her 2-year-old child and a 28-year-old Wanaque man.

The woman was wanted by the Wanaque Police Department on an outstanding warrant and was unable to post $750 bail. Arrangements were made for her father to respond to care for her child and Wanaque Police dispatched officers to take the woman into custody.

The 28-year-old male passenger was found to have active warrants for his arrest from Kinnelon, Belmar, Paterson and Ringwood totaling $5,600 in bail which he was unable to post.  Further investigation found that he was in possession of one bag of heroin, a hypodermic syringe and three empty bags, suspected heroin residue and a spoon with suspected heroin residue.  The man admitted that the heroin, syringe and paraphernalia belonged to him and that he had used heroin prior to being stopped by police.
