During the period between March 6th 2017 and March 12th 2017 members of the GRPD handled 215 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
03-05-2017
1:11 PM – Patrols, along with the Glen Rock Fire Department, were dispatched to 905 Maple Avenue, Saint Catharine’s Church on a report of a possible structure fire. Upon arrival responding police officers reported there was a working structure fire in the Holmes Building which is a separate structure from the main church. Glen Rock Fire Firefighters made a quick attack and knocked down the fire with assistance from Fair Lawn, Ridgewood, Midland Park and Ho Ho Kus Fire Departments. The fire was brought under control approximately 30-40 minutes after the first arriving fire department units arrived on scene. There were no injuries reported to staff or fire personnel on scene.
All children were sheltered in place at the school until it was deemed safe for them to be dismissed based upon the smoke and traffic conditions. The Glen Rock Police Department Fire Investigation Unit was called in and completed an initial investigation along with Glen Rock Fire Department Chief Jennings. It was determined that the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Investigation Unit would be called in to assist with the investigation. After the investigation was complete the fire was deemed not suspicious and the building was deemed unusable.

12:26 PM – A Buckingham Place resident reported $391 worth of unauthorized charges on his Bloomingdales credit account. He also discovered that he had been locked out of on line access to the account. The matter was reported to Bloomingdales and the account has since been closed. The matter was referred to the detective bureau for review.

11:22 PM – Officers were dispatched to Fairview Avenue near Boulevard to investigate a fare dispute involving a taxi cab. Upon arrival officers were told by the driver that a highly intoxicated woman had run from the taxi to evade payment of the fare. A 47-year-old Glen Rock woman was subsequently located. After confirming her identity, a sober family member was contacted and paid the fare. The woman was left in the care of her family member; the taxi driver was satisfied with receiving payment and no charges were filed.

3:10 PM – A Maple Avenue resident reported the theft of a bicycle belonging to his 17-year-old son. The bicycle, valued at $100, had been left unlocked and unattended in the Central Business District around 4PM on March 8th. When the son returned approximately two hours later the bicycle was missing. There are no known witnesses.

9:09 AM – Acting upon information and evidence provided by officials at the Glen Rock High School, Det. Mike Trover arrested a 15-year-old Glen Rock male on narcotics charges. The juvenile, who was found to be in possession of LSD on school grounds, was charged on a juvenile delinquency complaint with possession of narcotics. The matter has been referred to Juvenile Intake at the Superior Court Family Part in Hackensack.

10:56 AM – The Manager of Bottle King Liquors on Prospect Street reported two suspected shopliftings, by the same suspect, which had occurred since the prior morning. Video surveillance evidence as well as potential suspect information has been turned over to the detective bureau for further investigation.
