The Glen Rock High School Boys Basketball team dropped their last two games last week, falling on the road to NJIC Colonial division leaders Hawthorne, 46-41 on Thursday and bowing out of the Bergen Jamboree Saturday after losing to Ramapo, 46-39 in the opening round of the tournament.
However, the Panthers are back in action with a busy schedule this week, hosting three games at the GRHS gym. The first of those is tonight, when NJIC Colonial rivals Rutherford comes to visit. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. The game shapes up as a tight one, as the teams are battling for position within the division. Glen Rock (9-5 overall) is 7-3 and in third place in the NJIC Colonial standings, while Rutherford is 10-6 overall and 6-4 in the division, good for fifth place. The Bulldogs beat Glen Rock, 60-46 in the teams’ first meeting, at Rutherford in the third game of the season, on Dec. 22. Senior Josh Frissora had 24 points for Glen Rock in that game.
The rest of the week sees the Panthers host Garfield (1-14 overall, 0-10 the division) on Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m., and then host Indian Hills at the GRHS gym on Saturday at 1 p.m. Indian Hills, which plays in the Big North – Freedom Division, is 5-11 overall, and 3-3 within its division. One of their wins is over rival Ramapo.
