Following their loss in the Bergen County tournament final nine days ago, the Glen Rock Ice Hockey team went back to work last week and went back to their winning ways, picking up victories over Ramapo on Sunday and avenging an earlier loss to Lakeland with a 3-1 victory on Wednesday.
The victory over Ramapo, by a 9-4 score, saw a number of players step forward. Senior defenseman Leo Pawlika had a hat trick and senior forward Bobby Fenton scored his first career goal. Freshman Tate Whalen scored his second goal of the season and both goaltenders, Ryan McAuley and Max Lindley, saw action, with each making 10 saves.
With the victories, the team improved to 13-3-2. Senior captain Jake McKinney continues to lead the team in scoring, with 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points. Junior forward Matt Maselli is second in scoring with nine goals, 16 assists, 25 points, and senior forward Peter Cassidy is second in goals with 12, and third in points, with 20. McAuley has a save percentage of .910.
The team is back in action this weekend with two games at its home rink, the Ice House in Hackensack. Today, at 5:15 p.m., the Panthers face Wayne Valley and Sunday at 7:15 p.m. Glen Rock plays Paramus Catholic. Next week, the Panthers will venture outside Bergen County when they travel to South Mountain Arena in West Orange to take on Seton Hall Prep.
