During the period between January 2nd 2017 and January 8th 2017 members of the GRPD handled 190 calls for service, the highlights of which included:

The investigation into a December 24th 2016 motor vehicle accident, where the driver had been removed from the scene, resulted in charges being filed against the driver. A 17-year-old Glen Rock male was charged by P.O. John Tarantino with DWI, Consumption of Alcohol by Underage Vehicle Operator, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of Accident Involving Person Injury, Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Accident, Violations of Graduated Driver License Restriction and Failure to Possess Driver’s License.
As of this time no charges have been filed against the adult family member who removed the driver from the scene without notifying the police.

10:35 AM – A Maple Avenue resident reported that his son’s bicycle valued at $395 had been stolen. The alleged theft occurred sometime between January 1st and January 3rd. It is believed that the bicycle had been had been left inside the resident’s garage. There are no known witnesses.

2:56 PM – A Radburn Road resident reported that $300 in cash had been taken from inside his unlocked vehicle. According to the report the theft occurred during the early morning hours on January 3rd. There are no known witnesses.

3:34 PM – Officers were dispatched to the Bank of America on Rock Road to investigate a report of a male party attempting to pass a fraudulent check. The actor ran from the bank while officers were responding and fled in a vehicle west on Rock Road. He and an accomplice were subsequently apprehended on Main Street by Det. Mike Trover.
A 20-year-old Brooklyn NY man was arrested for Uttering a Forged Document and Trafficking in Personal Identifying Information. He was processed at police HQ and transported to the Bergen County Jail pending an appearance in Superior Court Central Judicial Processing within 48 hours. The suspect is believed to be part of an organized fraud ring and a further investigation is in progress.
The vehicle driver, a 54-year old King of Prussia PA man, was arrested for possession of Marijuana under 50 Grams and issued a summons for operating an unregistered vehicle. Following processing at police HQ he was released ROR pending a January 20th 2017 appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court. The elder suspect was later transported to Valley Hospital due to high blood pressure and a rapid heartbeat.

2:22 AM – Officers were dispatched to a 9-1-1 report of a highly intoxicated male party causing a disturbance in the Central Business District and threatening another party who refused to give him a ride home. The subject, an adult Glen Rock resident, was transported to his home. The caller, who remained on scene until officers arrive, did not wish to pursue the matter.

12:30 AM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop at Fairview Avenue and Lincoln Avenue P.O. John Tarantino arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Dingmans Ferry PA, man for possession of 50 glassine bags of heroin. The man was also determined to be a fugitive wanted by the Suffolk County NY Police. The passenger, a 20-year-old Dingmans Ferry NY man, was taken into custody when it was found that he was a fugitive wanted by the Pike County PA Probation Department. Both men were processed at Police HQ and transported to the Bergen County Jail.

10:14 AM – Officers were dispatched along with the Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department to a reported fire in the basement of Beekman Wines and Liquors on Rock Road. The fire, which had been confined to a light fixture, was quickly extinguished and there was little damage to the store.
