Police Blotter 11-23-2016 to 12-04-2016

11-23-2016

2:35 PM – While working an extra duty traffic detail in front of Bottle King Liquors on Prospect Street      P.O. John Tarantino observed a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot.  Upon approaching the driver, an 83-year-old Glen Rock man, the officer observed that the motorist was intoxicated and had an open bottle of wine on the front seat of the car.  The driver was transported to Valley Hospital for a medical evaluation and blood was drawn for toxicology testing.  He was issued summonses for DWI, careless driving and open alcohol in a motor vehicle and left in the care of the ER Staff.

11:52 PM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop P.O. William Holguin arrested a 50-year-old Glen Rock man on an active warrant out of Midland Park.  The man was released after posting $500 bail and was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license.

11-25-2016

3:38 AM –  P.O. William Holguin was directing traffic at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Maple Avenue when a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed failed to slow or stop when directed to do so.  The officer had a patrol vehicle nearby and was able to pursue to the motorist a short distance.  After stopping the vehicle P.O. Holguin subsequently arrested the driver, a 41-year-old Paramus man, for DWI and possession of cocaine. The driver was processed at police HQ where he was charged with Possession of Narcotics, DWI, Possession of Narcotics in a Motor Vehicle, Careless Driving, Failure to Obey Officer Directing Traffic and Refusal to Submit to Breath Tests.  The man’s vehicle was impounded and he was released into the custody of a sober family member.  A court appearance at Superior Court Central Judicial Processing in Hackensack is scheduled for December 9, 2016.

11-26-2016 

3:14 PM – Acting on a stop and hold broadcast initiated by the Paterson Police Department, P.O. John Tarantino apprehended a vehicle wanted in connection with a hit and run motor vehicle accident.  The driver, who was stopped on Route 208 North, was found to be in possession of 10 bag of Heroin and to have multiple warrants for his arrest.  He was transported to Police HQ where he was processed and charged with Possession of Narcotics and Driving with a Suspended License.  He posted a total of $2,000 bail on warrants out of Union Twp., Saddle Brook and Paterson.  He was released pending a court appearance at Superior Court Central Judicial Processing in Hackensack on December 16, 2016.

11-28-2016

4:16 PM – The Holmdel Police Department detained a 43-year-old Staten Island, NY man who was wanted on an active warrant out of the Glen Rock Municipal Court.  The man was arrested at Holmdel PD by        P.O. Greg Carter and P.O. William Holguin.  Unable to post $283 bail the man was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.

8:47 PM – A Sycamore Terrace resident reported discovering $1,010 worth of unauthorized transaction on his checking and savings accounts.  The transactions occurred in Queens NY between November 25th and 27th 2016.  The victim has since canceled his debit cards.  The Detective Bureau is following up with bank officials.

12-02-2016

2:35 PM – A Griswold Place resident reported that unauthorized on line accounts had been opened in his name resulting in $395 being transferred out of his checking account.  The bank has been notified and the Detective Bureau will be following up with bank officials in an effort to obtain the I.P. addresses involved.

6:09 PM – A Rock Road resident reported that his bicycle had been stolen from the NJ Transit Boro Hall Train Station at the beginning of October.  The bicycle was reportedly valued at $500.
