In October, The GRPD wore pink baseball hats to support breast cancer awareness month. The PBA purchased 100 pink supporter hats for the month of October. The GRPD has sold 30 pink hats. GRPD is following the trend other law enforcement agencies across the country. GRPD has become extremely involved in raising awareness for the special Olympics, cancer programs and various other causes.
In 2015 the PBA approached the department regarding the officers wearing pink police hats to raise awareness within the Glen Rock community. The support inside and outside of the community was extremely positive and various residents asked if they could purchase a hat. This inspired us to have the supporter hats made this year. All proceeds ($650) total will be donated to the National breast cancer Foundation.

To continue this trend, a joint effort between Chief of Police Dean Ackermann and Glen Rock PBA – Local 110, members of the GRPD will be participating in “No Shave November” to promote cancer awareness.
Sworn members, not currently in basic training at the police academy, are eligible to participate in the event by making a $50.00 contribution toward cancer awareness and research through no-shave.org. The No-Shave November campaign has successfully raised over $3.5 million dollars to combat this disease. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer in our efforts to fund cancer research and education, help prevent the disease, and aid those fighting the battle. Each whisker grown allows us to embrace our hair, which many cancer patients lose during treatment
Each day, 22,000 people die from cancer worldwide. There’s a good chance that someone you know and love will be affected by this disease. Nearly half of cancer diagnoses and deaths are preventable. No-Shave November’s mission is to not only raise funds for cancer research and treatment but to educate the population about preventative measures. For over six years, participants around the globe have put down their razors and foregone their hair appointments to join the fight against cancer.
Community members wishing to support this effort with a donation are asked to visit https://no-shave.org/member/glenrockpba. Together we will win this battle.
