What an inspiration Chelsea Blind is!

Chelsea headed up Operation Christmas Child shoebox project in Glen Rock with help from her co-cheerleaders on the Varsity GRHS squad.  10801606_10152836098972482_1068570457214738628_n

“The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

Chelsea, a Junior at GRHS, a gymnast for 12 years and now is a varsity cheerleader for GRHS. In addition, she is a member of the Honor Society, and enjoys volunteering as well as working with children. and is very excited to experience these next couple chapters of my life!

10436159_10152836099027482_5004603314302069945_nBTN asked Chelsea how she got in evolved in a wonderful project.

“I was inspired to start this non profit project because our family friends came from a Ukrainian orphanage. They described what it was like to receive one of these boxes around christmas time, as it was the only present they received. It made them feel so special and that there were people out there who cared.

I think these shoeboxes will mean the world to the children and will bring them joy and happiness on Christmas morning, and well into the future.

The boxes are distributed to children in 140 nations and more than 113 million boxes have already been distributed. Something especially interesting is that you can track your box, and you’re encouraged to include a photo of yourself or you and your family in the box.

Glen Rock is an extremely generous and friendly community. We are fortunate to live here and we can all feel better about ourselves by doing for others. Simply, everyone can help by donating. And nothing large expensive or overwhelming. Small stuffed animals, matchbox cars, yo-yo’s, games, puzzles, school supplies and non liquid toiletries will easily fill a box. Another easy way to contribute is to write a check. It costs money to ship the boxes….so there are a variety of ways for anyone to contribute.

Personally I have asked my cheer team to contribute by each filling their own box. If each team member fills a box we will already have about 40 boxes!

Since, this is posting after this fundraiser has ended..  We also wanted to share her post.

” THANK YOU GLEN ROCK!!! We were overwhelmed by the amazing support of Operation Christmas Child. Our goal was to fill 100 boxes…..but yesterday we delivered 116 boxes that will go to those less fortunate!!! Many thanks to everyone that filled boxes, and dropped off donations!! Thanks to the administration, faculty, students and all the families at GRHS…..especially my Varsity Cheerleading Team and Coach Perry as well as Mrs. Weisberg and all her Chemistry students. Thanks to Dr. Baron and Clemente Orthodontics for all the toothbrushes and gift bags!!” 1939437_10152836099277482_3520569963215966891_n
