Wonderful news this morning in the feed of the Banana Tree. NJ elementary school rankings are out and here is how we ranked out of 1238:

Clara E. Coleman – 12th

Alexander Hamilton – 28th

Central School – 46th

Richard E. Byrd School – 75th

For the Middle School ranks:

Glen Rock Middle School –  26th out of 688

Glen Rock High School 56 out of 411

In Newsweek,   Glen Rock High School was named 76th out of the top 500 High Schools in the country.

Way to go GR! but here is my question: why are all the elementary schools so far apart in ranking – what is different in each school to cause that and how can we fix this?

Update from Dr. Valenti,

It appears that SchoolDigger is an independent website that conducts reviews after researching the school testing data.

About SchoolDigger rankings
  • Ranking updates are approximately yearly, usually the same day the New Jersey Dept. of Education releases their test scores. Last update for New Jersey was November 5, 2014.
  • Rankings are available for all New Jersey public elementary, middle, and high schools that have published NJASK scores for the latest year. See the Ranking FAQ for more information about how SchoolDigger.com ranks schools.
  • Rank is determined by adding each school’s average NJASK Math score with the average NJASK Language Arts Literacy score to form a combined average score. The school with the highest combined score is ranked #1.
  • The values used in the NJASK columns are % met standard.
